Employment Offer Scams

If you have posted your resume, with at least some personal data accessible by potential employers, on a legitimate employment site you will likely receive dozens of bogus employment offers. You will receive job offers to become a “financial representative” of an overseas company. The reason they want to hire you is that they have problems accepting money from Canadian or US customers and they need you to handle those payments. You will be paid 5 to 20 percent commission per financial transaction.

When you apply you will be asked for all your personal information and financial data including bank account information and maybe even access. You will become a victim of:

* identity theft,
* money stolen from your account
* You may receive fake checks or money orders. You will be asked to deposit the payments and then send them a cheque minus your commission. It will take weeks or even months for their phony cheque to bounce and by that time they will have cashed your check. You will end up owing money to your bank, who will NOT be sympathetic to your problem.

Note: There actually are several websites named www.dulwichpicturegallery …. note how the scammer leaves on the .com or .net The .com site is actually a collection of links to other sites and never includes an address or phone number or anything. I’ve sent off a SCAM warning to them … so far NO reply!

If you reply to an email like this ... they will try to scam you and then they will sell your email address to every other scammer in the world.
