This is a nice writing contest. Many people love the idea of writing their memoirs, either a fictionalized account, or the real thing. This is the perfect opportunity to give it a go.
There is a fee … but the prizes are decent and this website has been running similar contests for years.
Memoirs Ink Fourth Annual Personal Essay Writing Contest
Categories: personal essay/memoir/creative nonfiction
Eligibility: All countries All ages
First Place: $1000; Second: $500; Third: $250. Winners published.
You’ve missed the early deadline, but there is a Late Deadline: August 15, 2007 (additional $5 fee).
This contest is open to any writer writing in English (That means Canadians, Brits, Australians, Ugandans, and everyone else is welcome to enter). We are looking for first person stories based on your personal experiences. Any style. Limit 3000 words (but don’t feel obligated to make it that long). Winners published. Deadline: August 1, 2007 (postmark).
