Though many of them have smaller prizes, they are worth entereing because they may be free to enter and they may not have as much competition as some of the larger profile contests.
Photo Life’s Showtime contest is a great photo contest to enter. There is a new theme every two months and in addition to the prize (Roots Photo/Video System Backpack model RP107 (suggested retail value: $79.95) winner’s photos are published in one of the nicest photo magazines available!
The other day I was sitting in traffic on Hwy#1 …. just outside of Vancouver. The traffic was backed up for miles. At one highpoint in the road … I could see the incoming traffic, also backed up for miles. I WISH I had my camera with me … for the Nov 11 deadline contest theme: Traffic Jam!

Relive Jamaica Photo Contest
If you’ve been to Jamaica and have some great photos hanging around, now is the time to haul them out and send in your best. You may win $1000 towards your next trip to the Island … and have your photo published in a Conde Nast magazine.
Submit original photograph(s) of Jamaica in one of the following categories:
- leisure sports (can include golf, boating, fishing, hiking, etc.)
- culture
- natural beauty.

The World in Focus photo contest has two separate contests … one for professionals and one for amateurs.
The prizes are HUGE … trips to Tahiti, Vietnam, a Windjammer cruise, professional camera gear and more and that’s just in the Amateur contest. Given the huge prize packages available, the entry fee of $10 is crazy low and are sure to go up next year!
In the professional competition (which has a student component) there are equipment packages, exhibitions and more. The entry fees are higher, but so is the glory!
Don’t be put off by the August 15 deadline on the home page … if you click on the rules you will see there is an EXTENDED DEADLINE of August 28th (they just charge you more to enter).
