Castle Building Contest

Wow … neat contest.  Wish I was a kid again, this looks like MEGA fun!

This one is for Kids 6 to 13 years old.

Design and build your own Dragons Castle creation using construction building blocks to enter. Finalist prizes will be awarded based on the following criteria: Most Epic Scene, Biggest/Most Indestructible, and Most Authentic Castle. All submissions should feature at least one Dragon and include an essay of 50 words or less describing the creation.

Prizes: 
Grand Prize: An exclusive weekend trip for 2 (Winner and legal guardian on January 13-15, 2007)to Mega Brands Headquarters in Montreal Canada for a tour to meet the Dragons toy line designers and builders.
4 Finalists Prizes: $500.00 worth of MEGA BLOKS products and memorabilia!

Sweet 16 Scholarship Contest

Girls 13 to 18 have an opportunity to score a hefty chunk of change for their college fund.

Scholarship give-aways range from $500 to $16,000.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO: Write a true, first-person story about a memorable or life-changing experience you have had. Stories must be the true personal experience of the writer.  Manuscripts must be the original, unpublished work of the submitter and must be written in English,with a maximum of 1,600 words.

Authors of the top four manuscripts, as judged by the editors of Sweet 16, will each receive a scholarship in the following amounts: First Prize: $16,000; Second Prize: $10,000; Third Prize: $5,000; Fourth Prize: $2,500. Scholarships will be paid directly to the accredited four-year college or university designated by the winner when the winner is fully enrolled. Twelve “Honorable Mention” cash prizes of $500 will also be awarded.

Deadline: November 1, 2006
Eligibility: International, 13 - 18 years, Females only

Time To Shine

This is an essay contest from  Seventeen magazine and Maybelline.

If you are 13 to 24 and a US resident, submit a 100 word essay about your biggest achievement and how a high school or college teacher helped you shine in  that moment.

There are two grand prizes. One for high school and one for college. Winners will get a $1000  scholarship, and a trip to NYC for two people for two nights. While in NYC you will get a professional  makeover and a tour of Seventeen magazine.

The teachers who were nominated will win a two-night trip for two to a Spa Resort.
