CBC Literary Awards

The November 1, 2006 deadline for CBC’s Literary Awards is approaching fast.  This is one of the most prestigious writing contests in Canada, with a pretty BIG ($60,000) pot of money for the winners.

The 2006 CBC Literary Awards competition is now open. Put your talent to the test and send us your unpublished short stories, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Please note that this year’s deadline is November 1st, 2006.

What are the Awards?

The CBC Literary Awards competition is the only literary competition that celebrates original, unpublished works, in Canada’s two official languages. There are three categories: short story, poetry, and creative nonfiction.

What are the prizes?

Two cash prizes in each category, for each language, courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts.

First Prize: $ 6,000
Second Prize: $ 4,000

Publication in enRoute magazine for first and second-prize winning texts.

Recording and broadcast of a reading of the winning entries, in whole or in part, on CBC Radio. The prizes also cover the rights to translation by a person commissioned by CBC, as well as the recording and broadcast of the translation on CBC’s French or English network.

Deadline:  November 1, 2006
Eligibility: Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada; unpublished work in English or French. Open to ALL ages.
